How recommendations are researched

Honest research, shown with its working.

Targeted search, not a generic answer

We run several destination-specific searches (hidden gems, forum itineraries, local food, warnings, your styles and dates) through a connected search API.

De-duplication & independence

URLs are normalised and near-identical content is set aside, so a copied blog post doesn’t count twice. Confidence reflects how many independent sites agree.

Untrusted content stays data

Retrieved pages are treated as untrusted text. Instructions hidden inside them are ignored, and the model can only cite sources we actually retrieved.

Clear labels

Firsthand, editorial, forum and possibly-sponsored sources are labelled. Costs are estimates. AI-only suggestions are marked. Missing hours or ratings say “unavailable”.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

Where do recommendations come from?+

From public web pages found through our search provider — travel blogs, guides, forum threads and articles. Each stop links to the sources that mention it. We read search snippets, not full copied articles.

Is Unlost’s advice verified?+

Not by us in person — we have never visited these places. When a place-data provider is connected, locations, hours and ratings come from it; otherwise they are marked unavailable. Prices are always estimates.

What do I get for free?+

The first two days in full with photos, reasons and sources, plus warnings and a preview of every later day. Trips of two days or less are completely free.

What does unlocking include?+

All days, every source, detailed tips, alternatives, navigation links, a cost breakdown and a printable PDF. No sign-in needed — create a free account afterwards to keep it on every device. It is a one-time ₹29 payment per trip — no subscription. A new trip is a separate purchase.

Can I get a refund?+

Yes — see our Refund Policy. If research failed or the itinerary is materially wrong, contact us within 7 days.

Which destinations are supported?+

Anywhere in the world — type any city, town, region or country and pick it from the suggestions (place search by OpenStreetMap). Featured destinations are ones we've already tested research quality for; for very small or remote places there may be fewer traveler sources, and the itinerary will say so.
